Project background :

The project is funded by the World Bank and the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM). The project covers 18 communes belonging to three (3) regions of Mali (Gao, Timbuktu, Mopti).

It concerns a population of 200,000 people. Three (3) great results are expected, namely:

  • the conservation areas are created and the management of their spaces by the Communal Organizations is effective;
  • the capacity to take into account the biodiversity dimension in the Social, Economic and Cultural Development Programs of the Communes is improved;
  • the communes of Gourma are organized to better plan and organize the management of spaces and biological resources.
